This information is intended only for international students who have already been nominated to UConn on an exchange program and have been notified of their nomination by their home university exchange coordinator.

UConn requires additional information from you in order to formally accept you as an incoming exchange student

To start an application as an incoming exchange student, please click the red "Application System" button at the bottom of the page.

Once you have done this, you will be re-directed to the application system where you must again click “Apply Now”

Then, you must follow these directions:

Step 1: Click the “APPLY NOW” button located at the top or bottom of the page. Where you are asked to “Please indicate how you will be logging in:” click the bottom button, “I do not have login credentials to this site”, then click “submit”

Step 2: Fill out the various “New User Form” fields with pertinent information – NOTE: Please fill out the application using your name as it is issued on your passport. This is vital to ensure your application is received without error.

Step 3: After checking your home institution in the “Partner Institution” list, and clicking “Create Account”, a message will be sent to the email account you provided above. The message should contain your login and password information.

Step 4: After you have been assigned a username and have confirmed your password, you will be given your own personal online application page. At that point, you will be prompted to enter your home addresses and emergency contact information. Once your information has been saved, you will be brought to your online application where you will be asked to complete an Application Questionnaire. All materials must be submitted by March 1st for participation in the Fall 2018 or Academic Year 2018 exchange program. The Spring 2018 and Calendar Year 2018 application deadline is October 1st. Please ensure you select the correct term for which you are applying otherwise you will have problems with your DS-2019 form which is needed to apply for a J-1 visa. If you are nominated and are attending UConn for two semesters (example: the full Academic Year) please be sure to select "Academic Year 2018" and not "Fall 2018". It is very important to select the correct term of your exchange in the application system.

Step 5: Complete the Application Questionnaire sections, beginning with the “Application” section. Once you have completed the “Application” section, click on “Course Preference Document”. Scroll down the screen slightly and click to download the “Course Preference Form”. Complete the Course Preference Form by identifying TEN different courses that you would want to enroll in, in choice order from first choice to tenth choice. We ask for this many courses because course selection at UConn is not guaranteed, and only by identifying backup course choices are we able to best assist students. Please use the Exchange Course Preference Instructions document emailed to you when completing the “Course Preference Document” section of the online application.

Step 6: Upload the Course Preference Form online where you are prompted on the “Course Preference Document” webpage within the “Application Questionnaire” webpage.

Step 7: Upload a copy of your official TOEFL or IELTS score report. A passing TOEFL or IELTS score is required unless your native language is English or the entire academic program at your home university is taught in English.

Step 8: Upload an official copy of your academic transcript (record of courses and grades received) as a PDF document. Your official transcript must include a stamp, seal or signature from the records office at your home institution (e.g. Registrar’s Office).

Step 9: Upload a copy of your passport (the page with your picture and detailed information).

Step 10: In addition to submitting the required information and documentation via the online application, please also submit ALL of the following to incoming_exchange@uconn.edu:

-The completed Course Preference Form with ten different course choices.
-Your most recent official academic transcript in PDF format.
-A translation of the official transcript if not in English.
-A list of any courses/subjects you are currently studying that are not yet included in your transcript.
-Syllabi in PDF format of completed coursework indicating you have met enrollment requirements for your chosen courses. If the syllabus is not available in English, please provide the original syllabi and complete and submit the Syllabus Substitution Form for each prerequisite course. The Syllabus Substitution Form will be emailed to you with the Invitation to Apply instructions.

about us

The Goldenson Center

Goldensons photo The Janet & Mark L. Goldenson Center for Actuarial Research, Department of Mathematics, was established in November 2008 funded by a $1 million donation by Janet and Mark L. Goldenson. The question that is naturally asked is what do two Californians, Janet and Mark Goldenson, have in common with the University of Connecticut and its actuarial science program? The answer goes back almost 30 years ago when Jay Vadiveloo and Mark Goldenson were students and roommates at the University of California, Berkeley. This friendship was sustained over the years and took on an additional dimension when Mark married Janet, Jay’s sister.

The decision to create a Center for Actuarial Research at UConn in November 2008 was thus motivated by both personal friendship as well as our strong belief in supporting university students and faculty in research activities that benefit industry. We believe the Janet & Mark L. Goldenson Center for Actuarial Research at the University of Connecticut is uniquely positioned to achieve this mission. We are both very proud of what the Center has achieved so far and wish all those connected with it all the best in future endeavours.
